Beowulf album review By Hansel Merchor
Apparently re-mastered straight from the vinyl version, these are the two releases from the forgotten Venice, Calif. thrashers Beowulf (not to be confused with the Los Angeles based hardcore band of the same name).

About Beowulf
One of the most talented bands to emerge from Venice, California Scene, were Beowulf. This four-piece hardcore/speed metal group was formed in high school back in 1980’s. Beowulf had the Power, Speed, Rhythm, and Determination to achieve the success they deserved. The original members of Beowulf were: Dale Henderson on vocals and guitar; Mike Jensen on guitar; Paul Yamada on bass guitar; and Miguel Alvarado on drums.

In 1984 Beowulf hit the local scene with force. Playing most of the popular Hollywood and L.A. clubs, the band acquired a large following. In addition, Beowulf has supported such acts as Suicidal Tendencies, Slayer, D.R.I., Nuclear Assault, and others.

Beowulf made their vinyl debut in 1985 with two songs for the Suicidal Records' compilation album entitled "Welcome to Venice". This gave the group the recognition they needed. A year later, Impressed with Beowulf's performance on the compilation, Suicidal Records produced the bands' first full-length LP; "Beowulf".

For second Beowulf's' LP "Lost my head..." received commercial and college airplay success. A live performance video of the title track was also made.
